OVERVIEW OF ORGANISATION
Cavan Volunteer Centre is a service that matches individuals who would
like to volunteer with organisations involved in volunteer work. We
provide a range of services, including information, consultation,
volunteer leadership training, and a Garda Vetting Service. Cavan
Volunteer Centre is a non-profit organisation and registered charity
funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development. It is
part of a network of twenty-nine volunteer centres and a member of
Volunteer Ireland. Our mission is to promote the value of volunteering
and increase the range and quality of volunteering in Co Cavan.
The Digital Communication and Fundraising Officer at Cavan Volunteer
Centre (CVC) plays a crucial role in driving awareness, engagement,
and support for CVC’s programs and services. This office focuses on
strategic communication, digital outreach, and fundraising to enhance
CVC's presence in the community, attract new volunteers, and secure
funding for ongoing initiatives.
BELOW ARE THIS JOB'S KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Successful candidates will be responsible for the following.
1. STRATEGIC DIGITAL COMMUNICATION
* Developing a Communication Strategy: Craft a clear digital
communication strategy to promote volunteerism, highlight CVC’s
initiatives, and increase community engagement.
* Social Media Management: Create, schedule, and manage content
across social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) to
maintain active engagement with the Cavan community.
* Content Development: Produce compelling multimedia content,
including graphics, blog posts, videos, and infographics that tell the
stories of CVC’s impact and inspire community participation.
2. FUNDRAISING AND DONOR RELATIONS
* Fundraising Campaigns: Plan and implement online fundraising
campaigns, including seasonal appeals, donor drives, and community
events, to secure funding for CVC’s programs.
* Donor Engagement: Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors
through personalised communications that showcase the impact of their
contributions.
* Grant Research and Application: Research potential grants and
funding opportunities, write proposals and manage applications to
support CVC’s operational needs and projects.
3. WEBSITE AND SEO MANAGEMENT
* Website Maintenance: Update and manage the CVC website with
current information, volunteer opportunities, success stories, and
event promotions.
* Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Optimize website content to
improve visibility on search engines, ensuring the CVC website reaches
a broader audience and attracts potential volunteers and supporters.
* User Experience Enhancement: Work with web developers or IT
support to ensure the website is user-friendly, accessible, and
reflects CVC’s brand values.
4. EMAIL AND NEWSLETTER CAMPAIGNS
* Newsletter Production: Write and design regular newsletters to
keep volunteers, donors, and partners informed about CVC’s work,
upcoming events, and new opportunities.
* Email Outreach: Segment audience lists to send targeted emails
that address the specific interests and needs of volunteers, donors,
and community partners.
* Analytics and Optimization: Track and analyse email engagement to
refine content and improve future outreach efforts.
5. VOLUNTEER ENGAGEMENT AND RECRUITMENT
* Promoting Volunteer Opportunities: Advertise volunteer roles
through digital channels to recruit local residents, students, and
corporate partners.
* Community Building: Foster a digital community where volunteers
feel recognised, valued, and motivated to continue their service
through regular engagement and recognition.
* Event Marketing: Promote volunteer recruitment drives,
appreciation events, and workshops through online channels to boost
attendance and awareness.
6. CAMPAIGN AND EVENT PROMOTION
* Publicizing Events: Develop promotional strategies for CVC events,
including award ceremonies, community fairs, and educational webinars.
* Live Coverage: Provide social media coverage during events,
sharing updates, pictures, and videos to showcase CVC’s impact and
drive engagement.
* Post-Event Follow-Up: Share event highlights and thank
participants for maintaining engagement and appreciation within the
community.
7. DATA ANALYSIS AND REPORTING
* Performance Tracking: Assess the impact by tracking the success of
digital campaigns, social media engagement, website traffic, and email
metrics.
* Reporting: Prepare regular reports that outline key performance
indicators (KPIs) to help the CVC team understand the reach and
effectiveness of digital efforts.
* Feedback Collection: Gather feedback from volunteers, donors, and
community members to refine communication and engagement strategies.
8. COMPLIANCE AND ETHICAL STANDARDS
* Data Protection: Ensure all digital activities comply with data
protection regulations (e.g., GDPR), safeguarding the information of
volunteers and donors.
* Ethical Fundraising: Maintain transparency and honesty in all
fundraising and donor relations efforts, aligning with best practices
for nonprofit fundraising.
9. COMMUNITY AND PARTNER ENGAGEMENT
* Local Partnerships: Collaborate with schools, businesses, and
other community groups to broaden the reach of CVC’s digital
initiatives.
* Building Community Support: Act as a liaison between CVC and local
media, sharing press releases and stories highlighting the value of
volunteering in Cavan.

Centre is integral to building community support, fostering
volunteerism, and securing the financial resources needed to sustain

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
6-month term contract. This may be renewed pending funding.
